Wings are finished and ready to mount
25 Hours
I have spent the last few days getting the wings finished and ready to go on the fuselage. this involved running some new wires for the landing lights, installing nutplates for the wing fairings, adding the anti rotation bracket to the left wing, and putting the rib on the wing tips. Tomorrow I will work on the aileron boots and then might start on the windscreen fairing.
Wing Wiring Diagram
Just a reminder for when I loose the paper.
Dynon Wing Servo
4 Hours
Since I have intentions on taking the wings to the paint shop relatively soon I need to finish up the work on the wings. First was the Auto pilot servo, pretty self explanatory and went in just fine. after that was done I had to install the access plate that is there for the stall warner. Since I am not using vans I riveted the panel.
Seat Belt Anchors
While I had some downtime I decided to crawl in the back and bolt the seat belt anchors down. No issues and hopefully the last time I have to crawl back there.
Wings are On
9 Hours
The wings are now on, I had lots of help so things went very easy, I would get into the details but I honestly don’t remember them right now, maybe I will update it later.
Another Package
2 Hours
Picked up a few more packages tonight, in it were 2 Mounts for either ELT’s or Strobes , a Set of HID’s for the landing lights, the other 2 bolts for the rudder pedals. I also ended up moving one of the storage racks against the other wall so that it gives me more room for the wings. Wings are scheduled to go on at 11:00 tommorow morning. Jim called his recruits and is having 3 of his friends come down and help, the group of 4 have mounted quite a few sets of wings before so things should go very smoothly.
Fuselage Riveting Day 2
Got about 90 percent of the riveting done on the fuselage. I started by riveting the F-623 and immediately moved to the 2 lines on the bottom that attach the aft fuse to the center section. After those were done, i moved to the aft section and finished riveting the bulkheads from the stiffeners to the longerons. From there I riveted the longerons to the side skins in the cockpit area as well as the keeper rivets in the after fuse that will hold the longerons during construction. Next i started on the right side and started at the F-705 bulkhead and worked my way forward doing all the vertical lines of rivets. i stopped at the F-902 so that I will be able to peal back the skin to apply the firewall sealant when it gets here sometime this next week. The bolts that go through the firewall bracket and the lower longeron were then installed torqued and torque seal was applied. Hopefully, I can get someone to help me rivet the conical bends tomorrow and then I can flip it over. First thing in the morning I am heading to home depot to get some wood to build a fuselage stand.
